Everybody hates Wendy

Well I guess except for Bruce… Hehe…

Is ABS-CBN doing a demolition job for Wendy and Bruce? I’m not so sure but it would seem that way if you hear the reaction of most people about what Wendy has been doing inside the PBB house right after the ‘in your face’ activity of selecting who doesn’t deserve to be on the Big Four. What has she done? She got drunk which made her say a lot of hurtful things. Though I think she still would have said a lot of things even without alcohol intake. Anyway, it doesn’t end there since when the next day came, Wendy didn’t want to cook for Gee-ann and Bea. Sa bagay mas mabuti na yun kaysa naman na pakainin niya itong si Bea at Gee-ann ng pagkaing may lason. Hehe. At siyempre grabe ang parinig ni Wendy sa kanyang mga housemates. Naging conclusion pa nga ni Wendy na ang may inggit talaga ay si Gee-ann and not the other way around. (Logical kasi yung other way around since pwedeng mainggit si Wendy kay Gee-ann kasi nga mayaman si Gee-ann.) I think ang pinaka hurtful na sinabi ni Wendy about Gee-ann is that si Gee-ann may Pamela kasi manika lang ang kayang makipagkaibigan sa kanya. Balikan ba pa yun? Super na ang pag-attack ni Wendy. Hay naku Wendy, sana ay magpalamig ka ng ulo bago ka magsalita. Konting conrtol lang hija. Hindi mo na kasi mababawi ang mga salitang binitawan mo. Sana pag-isipan mo muna ang lahat bago ka maglabas ng galit mo at awayin ang ibang tao. Sana ma-relalize mo na plastik din ang magparinig. Kung nagagalit ka, sabihin mo ng harapan. I-confront mo si Gee-ann at Bea. Diba?

What will e the ultimate effect of all these chaos inside the house? Does it look like Wendy and Bruce are on their way out? How will all these affect Gee-ann? Will this pull her down too (wala lang kasi baka mainis na rin yung tao sa kanya sa pagiging iyakin)? I’m very much excited on what will happen in the next few days. But in the end I hope and wish they all settle everything since they all started as friends and I hope they all end up still as friends.

    We are loyal viewers of ABS CBN and PBB for instance, although we know that the voting on the housemates doest not matter but your decision who is going to stay or not….i hope you wont make it so obvious!!

    With the unfairness of bringing wendy back and not punishing her for her uncivil ways and to top it all sending Nel out instead of wendy is too much. Everybody hates wendy… the one accusing the others of being materialistic and plastic while in fact she is showing that she is the one with such behavior. Poor little thing, she ruined her whole being for this.

    Redeem your self ABS CBN or no one will be believe in your station anymore!

    The way wendy talked and carried herself showed only how cheap she is. Sarado siya sa mga bagay na dapat ay pinag-iisipang mabuti. Walang sense ang mga pinagsasabi niya. Things that she was saying and doing only showed what kind of person she is.
    Siya talaga dapat ang na-evict at hindi si Nel. Wala siyang karapatang mapabilang sa big 4. Siya ang dapat maalis tonight or no one will be watching na PBB until the big night.
    Toabscbn, huwag sanang gamitin ang mga housemates to look monster and cheap just becuas eyou want high rating for your show. Maawa naman kayo sa mga tao. Gusto lang nilang magkapera ngunit hindi sila dapat paglaruan na parang mga manyika. Please don’t play with their emotions.

  40. I’m actually not so much a fan of Pinoy t.v. programs.

    I just want to share my one-peso view:

    Amidst the many words spoken and written regarding this episode of PBB… we have come to a point where we analyze things in its microcosm … may mga taong aanalyze sa episode ng PBB na kinasasangkutan ni Wendy at isa sa mga tanong ay..” Is she worth the vote of the Filipino viewers?” .

    At first, I honestly don’t know if Wendy deserves sympathy or not – but this one thing I am sure of… tactless behaviour anywhere is inexcusable. To add that Wendy provoked and hurt Ge-Ann (another housemate) through her “below-the-belt” remarks are clear indications of poor breeding and lack of refinement. There are people who do this with grace, and there are others who do it without tact. Wendy obviously isn’t graceful enough to the eyes of the populace.

    But I guess, at some point in our lives, just like Wendy, naranasan na rin nating maging tactless sa ibang tao. Wendy may have felt that it was her moment, ang gabi ng kanyang pagtutuos. Yet, PBB is a reality show where viewers become the judge through text voting. Obviously, after that night many viewers were disgusted to Wendy.

    May mga nagtatanong din…”Is Ge-Ann worth the sympathy of the viewers?”

    I believe, Wendy’s dastardly acts and words should not be tolerated. Yet, Ge-Ann deserves no sympathy as well. When Ge-Ann and all the other housemates were called on to participate in that show they should have thought and expect that this thing may happen.

    We are talking about Pinoy Big Brother — a reality t.v. show, and all of the housemates are contestants who use whatever they can to unseat somebody whom they perceive as their biggest rival. That’s the nature of the game. You can bet that if Ge-Ann been or Wendy had been voted off, the others would eventually have turned on one another as they vied to be the ‘last man standing’.

    The whole show has been engineered by ABS-CBN to be a tinderbox for tension that can then be recorded in detail & edited to give whatever slant will garner the most ratings. It just so happens that the tensions have been exacerbated because contestants span a wide cross-section of class, education & background. Just because that Wendy bearing the brunt of the tension happens to be someone with “dark” past, this has become a dramatic issue… I don’t think so.

    We Filipinos love to love the underdogs. Some see themselves in Ge-Ann shoes — a girl who has been bullied, torn apart by an ambitious and bitchy woman in Wendy’s persona.

    There is a very thin line between what is entertainment and a vile spectacle and I think we are in that area now. What this attitude of Wendy and what has ABS-CBN has done to this program so far is remind us how the media can use any means to make money. ABS-CBN has been obviously rubbing their hands at the audience figures because everybody is talking about it now.

    As Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) Season 2 comes to a close after 18 weeks of airing, there remains a lot of questions regarding the reality show’s twists and turns. Most of the inquiries involve Wendy Valdez, the controversial housemate who waged war on two female housemates, Gee-Ann Abrahan and Beatriz Saw, after the two nominated her for eviction in the previous nomination night.

    Despite people’s anger towards Wendy, management credits her for the increase in public interest in PBB Season 2.

    PBB business unit head Lauren Dyogi met with the press yesterday, June 26, to clarify issues and reveal juicy details about the upcoming Big Night at the Big Dome that is scheduled this Saturday, June 30.

    “Sa proseso ng PBB talaga, kung sino ang may pinakamababang boto, siya ang natatanggal talaga. Hindi po namin ginagalaw ang mga boto. Ang production po, nalalaman lang namin ang boto a minute or a few minutes bago i-announce in Toni [Gonzaga, host of PBB Season 2]. Ito po ay nanggagaling sa subsidiary ng ABS-CBN, which is Interactive,” he explains.

    This is in reaction to public outrage that Nel Rapiza was booted out of the competition last Saturday, June 23. Nel got the lowest percentage of the votes with only 3.75%.

    Lauren also pointed out that, “We intend to keep this program for a long time and we don’t want to tarnish the integrity of the program as well as the Network. This is a reflection po ng tiwala ng tao sa ABS-CBN.”

    To make the results even more credible, they will be hiring top auditing firm Sycip, Gorres, & Velayo (SGV) to monitor the votes cast on the Big Night.

    “Sa darating po na Final Night, we will have a third party firm, which will be able to look into the records dating to Robert [Woods’] eviction. So, matsee-check po nila yun kung…At hindi po namin gagawin yun. We still feel that this [voting] is a democratic way of choosing who the Big Winner is, and wala akong makukuha diyan kasi all the housemates na pinasok namin diyan is to provide you with a good show. So far, we’re very happy with the results.”

    He notes, “We feel that we are giving people a cathartic way of venting their anger. Marami pong salamat sa naging involved, sa lahat po ng nagsusulat sa amin, sa lahat ng nagre-react. Nagpapasalamat po kami sa inyo dahil alam naming involved po kayo at nanonood po kayo.

    “Mas magwo-worry ako kung walang nagre-react,” says the PBB business unit head.

    GOLD OR DUD? With the escalating drama and growing public interest in the feud inside Kuya’s House, does he consider Wendy as a potential gold mine?

    “There’s been a lot of drama especially this last week. Kung sa career, di ko po alam kung gold mine siya kasi malalaman po natin ‘yan pag lumabas siya, e. But base po sa mga feedback ng mga taong nakapaligid sa akin, not necessarily yung mga bumoboto, maraming galit sa kanya.

    “I don’t know how that will affect her chances in show business. We’ll cross the bridge when we get there.”

    He also acknowledges the innate talent of Wendy to be an effective villainness. “Bagay siya na kontrabida. Effective siya kung maraming nagagalit na tao sa kanya. Effective po siya without trying too much.”

    But he clarifies, “Wala siyang concrete offers. There are only jokes from producers who tell me, effective siyang kontrabida.”

    Was the Balik Bahay designed to bring Wendy back into the house?

    “Yung elemento ng Balik Bahay, planado na po iyon. Kung si Wendy hindi natanggal, wala siya sa Balik Bahay. Kung sino ang evicted, sila pa rin ang papasok sa konsepto ng Balik Bahay. Nagkataon that Wendy was evicted two weeks before kaya nasama siya sa konseptong iyon.

    “The major elements in the program were pre-planned and part of that was the Balik Bahay. Pati yung Swap and Secret Housemates. Lahat ‘yan naplano na namin. Kung sino ang mai-involve dun, hindi namin planado,” emphasizes the business unit head of PBB.

    Lauren also points out the valuable contribution of Wendy to this reality show.

    “Kung ibabase sa nangyayari ngayon, ang laki ng na-contribute niya para gumawa ng ingay para sa programa. Lumabas lang ‘yang [controversies] last week. Before that, Bruce [Quebral]-Wendy love story lang naman ang pinapasok namin.

    “Nagdagdag siya ng ingay, totoo yun. We will not deny that.”

    When asked to comment on observations that PBB Season One was more interesting that Season Two, the PBB head had this to say: “There were more controversies doon [sa PBB Season One]. We’ve learned to survive and we’ve come to realize that the program thrives on talk—the fact that it’s in the consciousness of people. I think that we’ve succeeded in making the program part of the lifestyle of people.”

    He also pointed that this season was more tiring since the show ran for 18 weeks compared to the first season that only had 16 weeks.

    BIG NIGHT AT THE BIG DOME. Last year’s housemates were transported to Clark Expo in Pampanga via a helicopter. How will ABS-CBN bring the Big Four to the Big Dome this year?

    “Unang-una, hindi alam ng mga housemates sa loob kung saan gagawin. Definitely, it will be by land but it’s a surprise how we will bring the housemates to the Big Dome.

    It will be an interesting visual treat to see how they will be escorted. Isa pang inaabangan kung paano ire-reveal yung Big Winner. Yung kay Nene [Tamayo of PBB Season One], dun pa sa bahay. Yung kay Keanna [Reeves of PBB Celebrity Edition], nag-crane kami sa Post Office. Yung sa Teen Edition…[they transformed the Aliw Theater into a kingdom with a Fairy Tale theme].

    “Definitely, it will be a highlight of the program,” predicts Lauren. He also mentioned that Endemol consultants who came here to the country were very impressed by the way that ABS-CBN handled the Big Night of previous editions.

    “Dito, big deal talaga ang Finale natin. Tayo pa lang ang nagtayo ng House sa isla, sa Hundred Islands. Lumalabas ang pagiging mapaglaro ng mga Pilipino sa trabaho natin,” notes Lauren.

    PINOY BIG BROTHER 3? What can viewers expect after PBB Season 2? “PBB 3,” reveals Lauren. “Honestly, nagpaplano kami ng isa pang maikling PBB at the end of the year. Nagdidiskusyon pa kami, pero ayoko na mag-celebrity edition. Kaya ayoko, kasi it’s too much pressure from outside the house, not necessarily the housemates.

    “Ang daming iniiwasan, ang daming kino-consider. They [celebrities] have more to lose,” he concludes.
